A gift opens the way
and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. ~ Proverbs 18:16

One thing you might not know about me is that, along with being the Founder and President of Future Nurses of America (formerly known as Better Woman Better Wife, BWBW), I am also a dedicated nurse by profession. As a nurse and nurse educator, one of the most challenging experiences for me is seeing students unable to complete their education due to financial hardships. This is why, as the CEO and Founder of Future Nurses of America, I have established a Scholarship Foundation to support nursing students in need.

Reflecting on my own journey, I remember being 17 years old, fresh out of high school, with a one-year-old son. Due to financial difficulties, I had to drop out. It wasn't until my mid-30s that I could return to school and earn an associate degree in Office Administration. A few years later, I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and four years after that, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Praise be to God—won't He do it! In April 2023, I walked across the stage in Homewood, AL, at Samford University to receive my Doctorate in Nursing Administration. God is faithful!

Returning to school in my 30s for my BSN, I was in a very toxic marriage. Despite wanting out, I had no money, nowhere to go, and very little hope. But God. When God's name is behind the conjunction "but," there is hope! A women's organization offered scholarships to women facing financial hardships. I remember filling out the application and praying for God to move on my behalf. He did, and I received a scholarship that supported me for the next two trimesters. This scholarship not only allowed me to finish school but also gave me a new beginning in life, helping me to reinvent myself.

This is the reason why I want to pay it forward!

I know what it feels like for your mind to tell you to do better, but your pocketbook disagrees.
